Embassy Ballroom Competition, 1999
Holiday Dance Classic, 2000 8 December - 10 December Elizabeths latest endeavour in the dancing world was when she entered four dances in the Holiday Dance Classic in Las Vegas which included two dances in Swing, a Cha Cha and a Merengue. The dance competition was held at the beautiful Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Several of the fellow dancers stayed at the Venetian while Jacques and myself found it more within our budget to stay at the beautiful Harrahs hotel and casino next door. During our vacation in Las Vegas, we enjoyed the company of our fellow dancers and had the pleasure of watching André-Philippe, the impressionist at the Venetian Hotel. His slogan is He does everybody even you! A rather eye-catching slogan for an impressionist. Jacques first speculation was that he was a hair stylist and you can probably guess at the myriad of other professions that were conjectured (cartoonist, male prostitute ) He also claimed to do over 100 imitations during his show. One of our friends actually tried to keep track. He came pretty darn close. Also, during our stay in Las Vegas we had the opportunity to meet our friends Jane and Gary for lunch at Caesars palace. It was nice to see them again since we had not seen them in a while. Our time together was short as they had to catch their flight home and Elizabeth had to get ready for her second round of dances at the competition.
Here Matt and Liz pose for the camera in the famous x-line Matt and Liz worked many long hours practicing at the studio to get ready for the competition. It all paid off and Jacques is very proud of Elizabeth and her dancing skills. Here you see them showing of one of the moves from their award winning Cha Cha routine.
Karen, Leo, Tora, Ron, Liz, Matt, Jennifer, Nahetzin, Jordan Many of the fellow dancers also entered into the competition at the Holiday Dance Classic in Las Vegas. We all support each other in our dancing endeavours and enjoy cheering each other on. Here you see some of the other dancers from Ballroom is Back dance studio. Stay tuned for the latest in Elizabeths dance adventures. Im sure there will be more to come as Elizabeth continues to grow in her skills as a dancer.
